School districts can now determine if apps and websites meet data sharing guidelines under FERPA. More specifically, the privacy quality scores page now contains a FERPA check so that users can understand if apps or websites meets FERPA rules.
The FERPA check passes if the privacy policy states that school districts (and/or students and parents) maintain ownership of student data, and also that student data is never used for non-educational commercial purposes like targeted advertising, profile creation, or data sales.
